Seen a dog with a yellow ribbon on their collar or lead?
A yellow ribbon means the dog is a bit nervous, and needs some extra space.
Some dogs feel anxious and fearful of other dogs and people – if you crowd a scared dog, they may become aggressive out of fear. Chances are their owner will be trying to keep some distance between you anyway – help them out by giving them that extra space.
If you have a nervous dog, do use a yellow ribbon on their collar or lead when you're out, and don't be afraid to advocate for them. You can read more about this, and keeping your dog safe in summer, at www.kapiticoast.govt.nz...
A big ngā mihi to our friends at Wellington City Council for launching this super cool initiative.
