Laying in my garden not far from the tree they lived in. Pretty sure as a result of a huge amount of super loud fireworks set off close by. It sounded really loud to me inside the house, windows closed, and on the opposite side of the garden. Can only imagine how terrifying it must have been to birds outside, nesting close by. Really sad. They were a young pair. Quite friendly and often visited my vegetable garden when I was working in it.
As she was a native bird I will make sure she is given to some one appropriate so her feathers can be used and her wee body buried.
And I will pop over to the neighbours and let them know what happened. They can choose how to avoid this happening again.
Perhaps an option long talked about, but not happening here in Paraparaumu, is to have one central place where we have a fireworks display, to cut down on collateral damage done to wild life and pets. Cheaper and safer all around. Ideally it would become a community affair, an event that bonds neighbours together. If people are keen i will contact the council and get the ball rolling to get an event organized. Assuming the council will stump up with the money.
Let me know what you think??

Alot of houses in Kapiti have this internal gutter system on there house known as a Klass Fascia or Taylor Fascia. Popular from the 80s to the mid 2000's.
These internal gutter systems are extremely prone to leaking and damaging your soffit, walls and your home, you also may not know what is going on due to the water exiting the soffit slowly over years but also rotting the timber members in the process. A Quick Google will keep you upto speed with how these systems can damage your home.
How we can help? We are qualifed LBP builders, we have affordable process for removing this system and replacing for a external gutter system.
