Sports Stadiums New Plymouth

Charles from Lynmouth - Moturoa

Good to see the move to support the design of the proposed Multisport Stadium for New Plymouth . I would like to see the $150000 come from the PDF though rather than be another load on the NP ratepayers. I would like to see the $150000 come from the PDF though rather than be another load on the NP ratepayers. Before spending any money I would be interested to know what the process will be and what is the total cost of design stage - Is it part of the $50million? Furthermore I know the TRC are still proposing to proceed with their over the top re-build of Rugby Park but I think it is about time the NPDC and TRC ate a bit of humble pie and started to work together for good of the community. I have no problem contributing to one stadium but I do not believe we need or can afford two. By all means demolish or part demolish part of the Rugby Park stands if that is really necessary but let us put our major effort into the Multisport Stadium. It is not too late to put things right.

With much regret, the Taranaki Youth Orchestra has decided to postpone the 2 concerts that were to be held this Friday at Theatre Royal, at 4pm and 7pm.

The concerts would not have complied with the recent advice from the Government, so will be postponed until the Covid-19 outbreak is under control.

If you have tickets for this you can get a refund from Pianoworks.

This is obviously very disappointing for the 200 children in ten school choirs, the choir directors and the members of the orchestra that have spent many months preparing for this.
