Wishful thinking perhaps but if we are … View moreAs speculation rises about Three Waters my more immediate concern is when Council is going to refund money charged for up-grades that are no longer ratepayers responsibility. Allowing for inflation that would appear to be at least 10% of our current rates. Wishful thinking perhaps but if we are going to get stung by the government for up-grades why should we have to pay twice. This is not to mention the other 80% rise that the Council has foreshadowed.
On Three Waters itself did you hear the Scottish gentleman talking about the plans. Seems really scary to me and an absolute recipe for disaster. Whenever I hear that word corporate or others similar I am reminded of the fiasco we call our power infrastructure and they are still crying poverty even after pocketing billions of $s over the ;last 25 years.

He will be presenting an interesting programme of four Liszt pieces that are part of his collection, "Annees des Pelerinage" - Years of Pilgrimage, that describe some of his travels around Europe with his family.
The four pieces are: The chapel of William Tell, Homesickness, The Bells of Geneva and The Valley of Obermann.
The concert starts at 12.15 pm. Koha appreciated.

This concert features … View moreWednesday July 13th we will have two visiting musicians from Auckland presenting a very exciting and unique lunchtime concert with flute and harp which makes a wonderful combination. It is years since a Harpist has performed in New Plymouth with a full sized concert harp. This concert features Rosene Spence (flute, originally from New Plymouth) and Harrison Chau who is doing an honours degree in Harp at Auckland University. As with other lunchtime concerts this will be held at the Methodist Centre (Whiteley Memorial Church), corner Liardet and Powderham streets at 12.15pm. A Koha would be appreciated to help cover the travel expenses of the musicians.
