Concerto Competition, Saturday 20th June, Alexandra Room, Showplace

Chris Beath from Taranaki Symphony Orchestra

The Taranaki Symphony Orchestra is holding a Concerto Competition for up and coming Taranaki musicians. This will be in the Alexandra Room at the TSB Showplace, this Saturday 20th June. Admission is only $10. This is the first public event in the Showplace since we have entered COVID level1. This competition is held every two years.

There will be a total of 17 competitors performing a movement from piano, violin or flute concertos, and a singer singing an aria. This is a wonderful opportunity to come along and listen to some of our amazing musical talent.

There are 3 separate classes at these times
Junior (under 13 yrs) : 09:00 to 10:15
Intermediate (13 yrs) : 10:15 to 12:00
Senior (over 13 yrs) : 12:45 to 15:15

The Orchestra will choose a number of these competitors to then perform with the Orchestra at a Student Stars concert that is currently scheduled for the middle of August 2020.
