GNS Science is presenting a series of talks to inform, educate and raise awareness of key environmental and geological issues facing the Hutt Valley (and beyond) in the next 100 years.

Tsunami Risks – What’s the rush? Tsunamis are an ever present threat to coastal New Zealand. What are the implications for Petone and the inner harbour area? Dr William Power will discuss the areas of high risk around the Hutt and Wellington regions and discuss initiatives to protect local communities and raise awareness about the danger that tsunamis present. The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
