This is something I work on with clients A LOT.
Particularly in friendships between women, we have an automatic tendency to affirm FIRST and ask questions later.
However, I would suggest that the perfect friendship is one where there is balance: you gotta' be CHALLENGED as well as cherished!
That being said: people can receive being challenged best...when they feel safe.
So, I find the best way to challenge MY loved ones (while cherishing them) is to ask questions that empower them to look at things from new perspectives.
Here's one of my favorite questions to ask a private coaching clients who has identified something in their life that they want to change:
""What would you have to let go of in order to be, do, or have the thing that you want"?.
You'll be surprised how insightful and creative people get when they sit with this question!

So, Is there anything in your life you have to let of in order to be, do, or have the thing that you want?

If the answer is YES, contact Ann Jay for a Free 15 minute phone consultation to discuss and find out how she can help.

From one of our Villa residents who stayed in Strand Home for a period of convalescence

After returning from the hospital "my things were still in the room I had been allocated for convalescence care... and I settled in very gratefully. My room had a large TV, a bookcase with books, a bed of course, two dressers, a lift chair and an en suite. Well situated in the home so that I didn’t have to walk far to get to the lounge and dining room.
The care and friendliness from the staff was brilliant. Their willingness to assist when help was needed was there and didn’t deteriorate even after two weeks of putting up with me. They didn’t complain when I asked for a cup of coffee at 5a.m. or when I requested a shower at 6 a.m. Awkward times I know, but I am an early riser.
Meals were really tasty – Paula is such a good cook!! Continental breakfast, choice of meats for midday dinner and something different every night for tea. Morning tea about 10.30 a.m. – usually a muffin or scone (Yum). Afternoon tea with a cake or biscuit and supper with a sandwich.
I found it was quiet at night and one could get a good night’s sleep, no one was pushy but they were there if needed. I was always treated with the greatest respect and everyone was kind. So, here is the ... truth about Wesleyhaven … IT’S A CREDIT TO ALL CONCERNED. WHEN I HAVE TO TAKE UP PERMANENT RESIDENCE THERE (AND IT WILL COME) I WON’T HESITATE TO MOVE FROM MY PRESENT HOME AND THAT’LL BE WITHOUT A BACKWARD GLANCE!!!

Do you love kids? Are you a star barista? Do you want a workday that is never the same? Do you want to be part of a really great team? Are you looking for work in "The Hutt"?

Laughalots Playland & Cafe in Lower Hutt is a great place where kids have fun and adults can relax knowing their kids are safe and happy. One of our team has found their "dream job" onboard ship and is leaving us on 28th October, so we need a replacement.

You'll be required to take on any role in the Playland including front reception, front cafe, serving, ride operating, party hosting, opening & closing and a whole lot more. Great barista skills are essential.

This is a part-time role (less than 35hrs per week) rostered as needed including weekends and public holidays, at $15.75 per hour.

We have a great mix of mums, uni students and college students and folks who just love kids on our team and you'll be given full training as you get to know our great Playland Family.

Drop me a PM (Personal Message) if you're interested or reply with your contact details or through our email at laughalotsplayland@gmail.com.

Cheers,

David
