What is a DISC BULGE? 🤔💥

The central part of the disc (nucleus pulposus) pushes on the supportive outer layer (annulus fibrosis), causing it to ‘bulge’ past its natural boundary.
The intervertebral discs are important as they ensure optimal movement of the spine, provide cushioning to the spinal column, and allow for translation of force/weight through the spine.
A disc bulge can vary in severity, and therefore also vary in symptomatic presentation. It doesn’t just depend on the size of the bulge, but more so its location and the extent of nerve involvement:

🟣 Mild - may cause no symptoms, or just mild local pain.
🟣 Moderate - causes discomfort and pain, and compensatory muscle response.
🟣 Severe - considerable local pain, and my also press on the nerve root causing neurological symptoms. 💥
Disc bulges can often be managed conservatively with chiropractic care, restorative movement, and strength work. Understanding the repetitive stressors that have contributed to the disc injury is crucial, so that lifestyle modifications can also be made. 🏋️‍♀️
A thorough assessment can provide enough information to determine the extent of the disc involvement, and therefore the appropriate plan of care. However if the disc injury is more severe, referral to a specialist for further diagnostic testing and imaging, like MRI, is likely. 🕵️‍♂️🩻📑
Our spines are not invincible! Ensuring we are doing the best we can to look after them, keep them moving and functioning well, and allow them to adapt to the stressors of our lives more appropriately should be a priority for everyone! 🧠⚡️🙌

Does anyone have any ideas about how a concerned NZ Citizen can register a protest against the probable closure of programmes - Sunday, Fair Go, 1 News, NewsHub? Or any other current issues that are likely to negatively affect future life in New Zealand.
I have tried ringing Chris Bishop's community office 04 566 8580 - I got to leave a message.
Chris Bishop's email is chris.bishop@parliment.govt.nz so I'm about to send him an email regarding my concerns; 1 the probable closure of the above programmes and 2 as per the early radio news this morning that Waka Kotahi no longer need to consider climate change in any decision making in future.

The ability of your body to adapt to the stressors in your life is a direct representation of how healthy you are 🌱
If the combination of stressors you have (physical, emotional, or chemical) outweighs your ability to adapt, then it becomes incredibly difficult for your body to regulate, function and heal at its best ⚖️
When possible, give yourself time to let your body heal. Try adding these protocols to your daily wellness practices as a start!

✅ Restorative movement - 30 mins per day (walking, cycling, swimming, yoga) 🤸
✅ Get off screens, especially 30 minutes pre-sleep 📱😴
✅ Breathwork - deep inhale through the nose, hold for 3 seconds, long exhale, hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 20 times in the evening 👃😮‍💨

✉️ Put a hold on your mail delivery if you’re going away
✉️ Provide clear delivery instructions for couriers to leave a package safely hidden or secured within your property
✉️ Install security cameras and/or security camera messaging near your letterbox or front of property
✉️ Where practical, consider click and collect over delivery
✉️ Send parcels to a work address or ensuring you're home when they arrive
✉️ Contact Police (111 for immediate issues or 105 if it is after the fact) if you see people loitering around vehicles or looking into car windows
✉️ Engage in neighbourhood groups so more people can keep an eye out for suspicious activity

These tips are being shared after a 44-year-old woman will appear in Pukekohe District Court on 28 March charged with theft.
An alleged mail thief in the Pukekohe area has hand-delivered herself into Police, following assistance from the community.
Counties Manukau South Senior Sergeant MJ Riddle says Police were aware of locals discussing a mail theft on social media. A report was made to Police at the time in January and had included enough detail including CCTV footage and a vehicle of interest. Following Police enquiries, the woman has brought herself into the Pukekohe Police Station a few days later

“This is a great result for the community and a timely reminder to the public to continue reporting any thefts from letterboxes.”
Senior Sergeant Riddle says
“Our community should be able to receive parcels and mail without concern of interference but unfortunately there are people in our communities who take advantage of opportunities to commit thefts from mail boxes and front porches."

“We encourage anyone who has been the victim of dishonesty offending to report it as soon as possible,” she says."

It has been a long hard road but after 7 years, Stage 1 of the project is at last a reality. It’s fair to say that there have been a few people who declared that it couldn’t be done and that has been a spur to our efforts. Our entire Stage 1 budget has now been spent .
Stage 2, the interior of the building has still to be started. We have exhausted all available funds and are looking for volunteers to continue the inside work

We remain hopeful, however that now the exterior is a visible reality, that potential donors will be to assist with Stage 2 will be found. . We have of course been working hard to this end for some months now. Please give if you are able *
We are particularly keen to reach out to those who would be willing and able to help with interior finishing semi-skilled activities like painting, and plastering, as well as trades work such as plumbing and electrical.**
THE STORY OF THE CHRIST CHURCH TAITA AND ITS TREATY LINKS.
The Secondary Schools curriculum has recently been amended to require the study of NZ history. The first group of European settlers brought to NZ under the auspices of the NZ Company arrived on Petone Beach in January 1840. They were made welcome and sheltered and fed by the people of Te Atiawa who had a pa at Horokiwi. The church was built in the early 1850's and a memorial to that event was erected on Petone beach in 1940, this being The Early Settlers Museum, Te Whare Whai Whakaaro O Pito-one)
The story of that generally amicable interaction deserves to be told. The church was nearly destroyed by a major fire in the early 1990's, thought to have been arson, and subsequent necessary security measures have meant it is not accessible to Visitors. The Centre will allow visitors and students of NZ history to undertake guided tours of the Church and Graveyard where lie numerous distinguished individuals, including Chief Manihera Matangi , who was a strong supporter of the settlers and whose father signed the Treaty of Waitangi, and noted NZ Church architect Frederick de Jersey Clere.
The land has been donated by the Anglican Diocese of Wellington. Donors and Sponsors include the Lotteries Commission, the Hutt City Council, The T.G.McCarthy Trust, Pub Charity and a variety of local charitable trusts and generous private individuals.
