Toxic Algae Warning – Hutt River / Te Awa Kairangi from Birchville to Manor Park

The team from Hutt City Council

Toxic algae can be fatal to dogs, they like the musty smell and can easily eat the detached mats that wash up on the river’s edge. If you suspect that your dog has eaten toxic algae, contact your vet immediately.
If you walk your dog in these areas, keep safe by keeping your dog on a leash, away from the water, or walking elsewhere until conditions improve.
