We run our Bike Groups on Whatsapp mainly for easy adding to your mobile phone and messaging.
If you are interested in keeping fit and joining an informal friendly local group and are a mountain biker with good fitness level or have an EBike and can ride at a medium pace then this could be a good fit for you.
We have varied Sunday rides going on off road tracks or quiet roads. Distances ranging from 25km to 55 km. Medium pace. Our Sunday morning rides have a coffee stop and we have FREE nibbles (hot chips) and refreshments at the end at Monteiths on our Sunday morning rides. Casual rides are all individually arranged.
All ages/genders welcomed however with our current main age demographic being in the 'Senior' bracket.
Our Casual Group is very simple and if you are looking for a ride on any day then you simply put up a post on the Whatsapp group and see who would like to join you for company.
Just comment or message us with your preference for Sunday am, Casual or both and we will send you the Whatsapp join up link/s.

Sweet Louise - Walk 50K this month for incurable Breast Cancer
Hello All, this month I am walking 50KM for Sweet Louise.
Sweet Louise provides practical, emotional and social support and services for New Zealanders living with incurable breast cancer. They provide the compassion and care they need to live as well as possible, for as long as possible.
Membership is free and open to all women and men in New Zealand who have received a diagnosis of advanced breast cancer.
Sweet Louise provides practical and emotional support to improve life for New Zealanders with advanced breast cancer through:
- Support Coordinators with experience in oncology and palliative care based across the country and provide regular, one-to-one support
- Social support and creating connections through meetings, regular social events, and an active online support group
- Emergency vouchers for essentials like food and for petrol to get to hospital visits
- A range of vouchers for complementary therapies and initiatives such as family trips or treats, that give people a boost and help create special memories and resilience

‘Healthy’ response to Waimakariri’s Long Term Plan

Waimakariri residents have had their say on the long-term plan (LTP) and given councillors plenty to consider.
A council spokesperson said ‘‘a healthy’’ 336 submissions have been received to the 2024-34 LTP, making 1670 submission points.
The council is due to hold hearings on the submissions on May 8, from 9.30am, in the Ruataniwha Kaiapoi Civic Centre and then in the Oxford Town Hall from 3pm.
A second day of hearings will be held in the council chambers in Rangiora the following day from 1pm.
The council has signalled a rates hike of 8.94% this year, which is thought to be the lowest proposed rates rise in Canterbury.
Mayor Dan Gordon said the council was feeling the effects of the cost of living crisis, while continuing to pay off its earthquake recovery and Mainpower Stadium loans.
The district’s population is projected to grow from about 70,000 to 82,075 by 2034, based on Stats NZ’s high growth scenario.
To support that growth, the council is proposing to spend around $693 million over the next 10 years.
Managing the natural environment, flood resilience, community facilities and transport infrastructure were being consulted on.
Key projects include the proposed Rangiora eastern link road, a draft natural environment strategy, the Rangiora Library extension and expansion plans for Mainpower Oval.
Once the hearings have concluded, the council will resume its LLT deliberations on May 21 and 22, before the final adoption in June.
