Hi Everyone! We need logs for our fire. They will have to be fairly small, as the box is small. We'd also need them delivered. We live in Maunu Road. Thanks for your help. Keep Safe.

Re: COVID-19 LEVEL 2 ALERT SYSTEM:
Today, PM Jacinda Ardern and the NZ Government announced that New Zealand has moved into an alert system to meet the challenges of COVID-19 Coronavirus.
With the earlier directive this week of limiting indoor events to under 100 people and for people to observe physical distancing of 1.5 metres, we have the additional restrictions of people 70 and over, or anyone with health issues staying at home as much as possible. Therefore, we have taken the 'big picture' position to postpone our film nights for the foreseeable future.
We have made this decision for the health, safety and wellbeing of our members, our committee and team of voluteer staff and all attendees.
We greatly enjoy the sense of community and social nature of our film nights, in bringing people together to watch and enjoy films that transport us to so many places. We will miss this, as we know you will. We encourage you to post on Whangarei Film Society's facebook page to keep in contact and continue that sense of community.
We look forward to continuing our 2020 film season at a later date, so we can once again enjoy your company. We will keep you updated via email and by posting onto our website.

We also need to be very aware of the contact we have with others and how that may affect extended family and friends, particularly the elderly.
We continue to monitor the situation daily through our membership of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand, who are in regular contact with the Ministry of Health. The FDANZ have put out guidance and safeguard information which we are adhering to.
The Government has banned indoor gatherings of 100 people or more during the virus outbreak. This will affect funeral gatherings. There are however a number of alternatives to a full gatherings and we would be happy to discuss these with you. One of the best ways to reach people who may not be able to attend the funeral is via our live streaming option, which during this current period of disruption we are offering free of charge to every family we serve.
At this stage, while funerals are going ahead, even with the current restrictions, we ask that families consider ways to reduce possible exposure and spread of this virus. Holding smaller gatherings can reduce the exposure to the virus and the option of a memorial service at a future date may work for you better. In all cases we will be advising our client families according to their individual needs. A funeral as part of a meaningful farewell remain vitally important to our emotional and mental wellbeing.
Most importantly we must ask that anyone who is experiencing flu-like symptoms or who have recently returned from travel, especially from hot-spot countries (e.g: China, Japan, South Korea, Iran, Italy & Spain) consider not attending funerals during this uncertain period.
Our natural tendency at a time of grief is to hug and embrace and give comfort to our loved ones. We know that COVID-19 spreads through such action so we ask that you refrain from close contact during the funeral.

Schools are getting ready to run classes online, in case the spread of coronavirus gets worse in New Zealand. Do you think schools should close, or take holidays early, to stop the virus spreading? What would be the trigger point for this? And how would it affect your family if it did happen?

Update: Northland now has two confirmed cases of coronavirus. The region's first case of coronavirus has been praised for following all the rules to avoid transmission to others. What do you think? You can also add to this post of local events that have been cancelled due to Covid-19.

The Cancer Society takes the health and well-being of our communities seriously. In response to COVID-19 we have decided to postpone our Relay For Life events scheduled between now and the 6th April.
We would like to thank all our event participants, volunteers, and staff for the huge amount of work that has been done to plan and manage these events. We look forward to announcing new event dates when we can.
Relay For Life is one of our major community events that brings people together. We celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those who have passed away and collectively fight back by raising funds. With the funds raised, the Cancer Society can deliver vital services right across Aotearoa.
We hope to see all participants at the events later in the year. We would like to give you the opportunity to donate your registration fee to Relay For Life, however, if you would like it refunded please contact your local Cancer Society.
Participants should contact their local Cancer Society team who will be able to answer any questions they may have about the event including funds already raised in support of the Cancer Society.
