Small injured dog left in gray cat bed on Newton Street last night

Tracy from Ngaruawahia

Hello,
If this is your dog he is at the Anglesea Street vet in Hamilton. After examining him, the vet wouldn't tell me what was wrong with him due to the Privacy Act. They are looking for you to tell you what his condition is first and so you can claim him back. They're giving themselves about a week for you to step forward. Here's the number 07 839 5656.
He was in a lot of pain but they gave him a round of painkillers and he was sleeping peacefully later on. They've kept him overnight and said if there's a chance he can regain his health then the SPCA will look after him. Then if you can't be found he will be adopted out.
We noticed the clean, cosy cat bed he was lying in and your attempts to make him comfortable. It must have been very distressing for you. He has a piercing cry which is what led me to him lying in the catbed you'd placed next to the back wheel of the neighbours car. He probably cried like that all the time you were handling him into the cat bed as he couldn't be moved without shrieking. Poor thing. The both of you.
I'm not mad at you. Who knows what lead to such a bad situation. Bad on bad probably. Hope the dog makes it and that you don't get another one unless your situation improves greatly.
Tracy

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
