Artists at Work in the Te Awamutu Library!

The Editor from Te Kowhai Newsletter

Waipa District Libraries are showcasing some of our best local artists including Te Kowhai's very own Susannah Salter!

From March 13 to 16, the Te Awamutu Library will play host to a number of morning and afternoon sessions where local artists, of various mediums, work on a current project in the Community Room at the Te Awamutu Library.

Visitors are invited to come along and observe the fascinating process of an artwork being created. The public can stay for as long as they like. They may want to pull up a chair and chat with the artists or just pop in.

There will be up to four artists sharing the space at a time, so there will be a great variety on show including painters, digital artists, clay artists and more!

Also on offer during March, are a series of introductory art classes for adults held on Saturday mornings. Attendees can learn the basics about watercolour, Māori art, clay and drawing with charcoal. The classes are a gold coin donation to attend and registration is essential.

For more details about the programme or classes and pick up a brochure from either the Te Awamutu or Cambridge Library, visit the Waipa District Libraries Facebook page or go to the News and Events page at waipalibraries.org.nz

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
