Church closure
Hello everybody! We belong to the Parish of St Peter Chanel on the corner of Te Rapa and Vardon Roads and are asking for your help.
Our Bishop Steve Lowe proposes to close half of the Catholic churches in Hamilton (St Peter Chanel in Te Rapa, St Joseph in Clarkin Rd/Fairfield and St Matthews in Silverdale Rd/
Churches of all denominations are open to everyone/anyone who wish for a moment of peace and quiet, for reflection, comfort, rest or prayer sometimes in moments of great joy or others of sadness or worry. I myself have availed myself of the presence of a church (any church) when travelling for a moment of quiet reflection or prayer.
Bishop Lowe has asked for feedback before making his final decision.
Please take a few minutes to voice what it would mean to you for the Hamilton community to lose three of its churches. You can do so by email:
bishop@cdh.org.nz
Thank you for your help in saving these 3 churches.
From rugged campsite to 7.5ha resort
Grant Kilby has always loved camping. His mum was director of health at the YMCA, and he would attend YMCA camps in the school holidays. “I think it was mandatory that I was there,” he jokes.
He went on camping holidays with his parents, and later, took his own kids.
“Camping’s been in my blood.”
Poll: When do you shop the sales?
Bargain hunters made the most of Boxing Day sales at Centre Place and The Base in Hamilton on Friday.
However, a marketing expert believes Boxing Day sales, long a staple of Kiwi life post-Christmas, is on the outer as Black Friday becomes more popular.
When do you shop the sales? Tell us more in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).
