An Auckland trucking company wishes to dump millions of cubic metres of industrial waste in a proposed site in Huntly, close to the only 'swimmable' lake left in the Waikato region. In 2012, a Waikato Regional Council scientist compared the nutrient levels in Waikato lakes to 1316 others globally and found them to be among the worst. This indicator has not shifted in the eight years since.
What do you think about the proposal?

So often NZers associate our group as being connected to the breeding of the Manx cat originating from the Isle of Man (IOM), when in fact we are a group of friendly people either of Manx birth or of Manx descent who meet socially about 4-5 times through the year. We do extend membership to people who are also interested in the Isle of Man, those that have visited there or people who like to follow TTs for instance.
Our get-togethers usually consist of a mid-day meal together in Hamilton (sometimes pot-luck) and at some of these events we also have a guest speaker. In July we celebrate the event for the open parliament day on the IOM called Tynwald Day, a system that has been in existence for over 1000 years. Earlier this year we had a mystery bus trip for our members.
If anyone is interested I can send details for our upcoming Christmas get-together which will be on first Saturday in December (5th). There is a cost for the meal for this luncheon.

Back then I was told that "you don't need to have asthma to need an inhaler in the Waikato because "Hamilton is the allergy capital of New Zealand". Last year I needed the inhaler on and off for a few months - this year I haven't needed it yet though I was stuffed up for two weeks and now, though I'm breathing easily, am occasionally getting sinus headaches. So the question whether it is that much better elsewhere in the country or if there is a way to better manage symptoms in Hamilton?

Bevis, a resident at Ryman’s Anthony Wilding Village, recently received a gentleman’s makeover. The day began at the barbershop where Bevis and his barber Kohl shared plenty of laughs. Next up, a personal stylist helped Bevis select clothes he looked and felt great in. Being pampered isn’t the norm for Bevis but based on his smile, we’re confident he loved every minute.
