The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) have been given $10.2 million to eradicate the clams, which were first detected at Bob’s Landing at Karapiro in May last year.

After having its first day charging out-of-town visitors, Hamilton Gardens is already racking up some additional revenue to go towards maintaining the gardens at a higher level.

Numbers from the first day have been revealed to the Waikato Times, showing that there were a total of 578 check-ins on September 18, including My GardenPass entries and paid entries. There were a total of 315 single entry tickets sold.

A dispute over dogs at a Paeroa garden centre has led to a $300 fine, neighbours honking air horns, spying allegations and questions over whether a business is a “public place”.

Donna Jamieson’s three dogs are her world, and part of the Country Dog Garden Centre experience.

However, various people have complained to Hauraki District Council about barking and off-leash dogs at the business. The council says they can’t be, and recently fined Jamieson $300 for a breach.
