Voter Turnout at 5.7% for Council Elections

After the first (proper) week of voting in the Waikato District Council elections, we have 3,300 folks who have cast their vote, putting the turnout at 5.7% as of 19 Sep 2025. It's good momentum and we should all encourage our neighbours to keep it up!

I am concerned that only 32.3% of us voted in the last election in 2022. With the referendum included in this one where we decide if Maori ward representation should continue to be included in future elections, I think it's so very important to make each of our voices heard.
