Arbitrator appointed for Fletcher, Ministry of Health dispute over Greymouth hospital
An arbitrator has been appointed to sort out a $31 million contractual dispute between Fletcher Building and the Ministry of Health over the unfinished, delayed and overbudget Grey Base hospital.
Fletcher began construction at the Greymouth site on the West Coast in 2016, and the $77.8m building was supposed to open almost two years ago. The cost has now risen to almost $91m.
Going by the latest estimates, it could be April 2020 or even later, before the much needed hospital is finally signed off.
