West Coast Home Birth Association present a special screening of "Why Not Home', Wednesday 22nd, at 7.30pm.

West Coast Home Birth in conjunction with Coastal Midwives and with the support of Home Birth Aotearoa are pleased to bring our community the feature documentary film 'Why Not Home?'. This will be followed by a cuppa and discussion time.

To be screened in the Reynold's Room
Tickets are $5 -purchase at the register
Babes in arms welcome

Seating is limited to 15.

"Dr. Michelle Minikel thought home birth was crazy–until she got pregnant. Turns out she’s not alone. Why Not Home? exposes a secret from within the medical community. A small but growing number of doctors, midwives, and nurses who attend birth in the hospital are choosing to have their own children at home.

Through the compelling stories of women who choose to go outside the hospitals where they practice to give birth, viewers experience the beauty and challenges facing families both at home and in the hospital in a way that hasn’t been seen before.

The film follows several pregnancies through birth, and answers many common questions, including:
* Whether birth is safe or better at home
* Why there is often conflicting data and political agendas surrounding home vs. hospital birth
* Who should give birth in a hospital
* Why midwifery care, which can play a key role in healthier births, is marginalized in some areas, yet standardised in others."

You'll meet people who have left their self-doubts and inner demons behind so they could become better parents and partners. You'll meet people who channel their inner peace into creative projects that bring joy to others. Peace is possible, all that is required is for each of us to move towards it.

Youth & Search Rescue Trust - Tauranga
14 to 18 year old students from the whole Bay of Plenty are trained in volunteering and helping rescue people. They learn First Aid, searching in urban and back country situations, water safety, leadership and many more amazing life changing subjects. This organisation receives no government funding and relies on grants and donations to train these amazing young people. VOTE NOW!

Seddon Community and Neighbourhood Support Group
Seddon is our small rural township located to the south of Blenheim on SH1. Rocked and devastated (again) by the quakes in November 2016. With the loss of access to Christchurch via the Main North Line, and SH 1, we are at the “end of the line”. Every one of our self employed residents has taken a huge hit, many of whom can no longer support themselves especially with the removal of all emergency funding as of the 14th February. we are hoping to be able to provide to the whole community, access to essential first aid kits at reasonable and affordable costs to all the residents. It is for this initiative we are seeking some funding in order to subsidise these kits. VOTE NOW!!
