COLLIER, Bernard Edward

Passed quietly on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, aged 76 years. Devoted to wife Marion, treasured and loved by all his girls and their families, Di, Dave, and Sam Stalker, Susan, Shane, James, Abby and Hamish Thornley, Maree, Paul, Olivia and Thomas Piebenga, Justine, Thomas, Grace and Elsie Frey. A private family gathering has been held. Messages to 9 Stallion Avenue, Halswell, Christchurch 8025.


McGLINN, Robert James (Jim)

April 24, 1932 — March 3, 2021
Jim McGlinn died peacefully in Christchurch after a short illness. He has donated his body to the Otago Medical School to further medical research and training. In accordance with his wishes, a gathering is planned (once travel and gathering sizes permit) "where family and friends can share a glass." Jim and his dearly loved wife, Eleanor (1931-2014), nee Wilson, were married in 1952. Their four sons, Peter (who died soon after birth), Anthony (Tony), Mark (Sen), Graeme, his grandchildren, James, Elizabeth, Ekum, Toroa, Tama, Carson, Hamish, Allie, Fraser, his great grandchildren and sister-in-law Carol Hutton and all their spouses will remember him with great fondness and love. He was also a much loved son of Bob and Chrissie and younger brother of Ettie Henley and the late Nellie Morgan and Beryl Osborn. The family wish to thank the professional and caring staff at Bethesda Rest Home and Hospital, where Jim had resided since 2015.


KOSTER, Jacob (Jaap)

14.4.1927 — 3.3.2021
Jaap passed away peacefully at Christchurch Hospital on March 3, 2021, just one month short of his 94th birthday and 68th wedding anniversary. Loving husband to Joan, and respected father and father-in-law of Carol (deceased), Rikki and Gillian, and Rob and Karen. Loving grandpa of Rebekah Coburn; Katrina Wood and Anna Koster; Robbie and Jason Koster and their partners, and a great-grandpa. Jaap was born in Delft, the Netherlands, but called New Zealand home when he arrived in 1951. The family wish to thank Kauri Lodge for their wonderful care of Jaap over the last three years and all the fantastic staff in the Medical Assessment Unit and Ward 23 at Christchurch Hospital. At Joan’s request, a private family cremation has been held.


SANDERS, Joyce Irene (nee Winter)

(Formerly of Ohoka) Passed away peacefully on March 2, 2021, aged 92. Dearly loved and treasured wife of Bill. Cherished mother and mother- in-law of Stuart and Linda; Kathryn and Neil; and Helen and Bob. Special Gran of Hannah and Stacey; Georgia and Hamish; and Courtney, Willy and Luke. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Margaret and the late Brian; the late John; and Russell (deceased) and Sue. Loved sister-in-law of Melva and Wilfred (deceased); and John. Loved aunty to all her nieces and nephews, and a friend to many. In accordance with Joyce’s wishes, a private funeral has been held at St Thomas Church, Eyreton. LAWRENCE, Hemara Harris(Hemi)

Passed away peacefully with his loving whãnau by his side at Nelson Hospital on March 3, 2021. Dearly beloved husband and soulmate of Val. Beloved father of Alana, Jeremy, Jacinda, and Huriana, and step-father of Belinda, Melanie, and Angela. Cherished Koro of 21 mokopuna. Heartfelt thanks to Motueka St John, Motueka Fire Brigade, and the fantastic nursing staff of Nelson Hospital ED and ICU. A service will be held at Te Awhina Marae, Pah St, Motueka, on Monday, March 8, 2021, at 11.00am.


VAN WOERKOM, Antonius Theodorus Maria (Tony)

Passed away suddenly but peacefully with his family on February 26, 2021, aged 91 years. Dearly loved husband for 67 years of Isabel. Treasured and respected father and father-in-law of the late Antoinette; Francis and Clare; and Yolanda and Tony Phibbs. Proud Opa of Gregory, Nadia and Melaney; Theo, Isabella and Toby; and Georgia and Jessica. A fun loving Great-Opa of his 8 great-grandsons. Whilst we will miss him dearly we are so grateful for many happy memories. In accordance with Tony’s wishes a private service has been held.


ATKINSON, William (Bill)

Loved brother, mate and travelling companion of Bernie (Brisbane) and family.


PITMAN, Frederick George (Fred)

Passed away peacefully on March 3, 2021, in his 97th year, at the Kaiapoi Lodge. Devoted and loving husband of Ngaire for 69 years. Loving and respected father and father-in-law of Alan and Christine, Colin and Carolyn. Adored grandfather of Robert, Andrew (deceased), Helen, Louise and Mark, and their respected partners, and loved great-grandad to his 7 great-grandchildren. The family wish to acknowledge and thank the caring staff at the Kaiapoi Lodge. Messages to the Pitman family may be sent to C/- PO Box 35, Rangiora 7440. We will miss Fred’s story telling of his childhood at Rotomanu and his adventures throughout his life. In accordance with Fred’s wishes, a private family service has been held.


RICHARDS, Garry Thomas

Peacefully on March 4, 2021, in the loving care of Lister Home, Waimate; aged 65 years. Loved eldest son of the late Noleen and Raymond Richards, brother and brother-in-law of Rayleen and Allan McAuliffe, Denis and Sandy, Philip and Michele, and loved uncle, great-uncle and cousin. In accordance with Garry’s wishes a private cremation has been held. Special thanks for the kindness and compassion shown by all the staff at Lister Home, the family are very grateful for the care Garry received while a resident there. Also appreciation to Dr Sarah Creegan, the staff at Waimate Medical Centre and the staff at Waimate Pharmacy for the care of Garry.

NEILSON, Marion Anne (nee Waller)

On February 26th, 2021. Much loved wife of Brian. Loving mother of Jacqui, Keri, and Scott. Cherished nana of Taylor, Ben, and Katie. Heartfelt thanks to doctors and nurses at Waikato Hospital and Hospice for the special care they gave Marion in her long hard battle with cancer. A service for Marion will be held at Hamilton Park Chapel, 395 Morrinsville Road, Hamilton on Tuesday 9th March 2021 at 1.00pm.


JORDAN, Glenn Raymond

Suddenly at home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Loved son of Ken and the late Noelene, loved brother and brother-in-law of Deane and Lee-Anne, and Treena and Wendy. FLETCHER, Kenneth Carl

19.3.1933 — 3.3.2021

Ken’s gone fishing and hopefully his catch rate will be better in the hereafter. Maybe he will bump into his beloved Peg. Ken will be much missed by Dee and Peter, Sam and Francine (Spain), Emma and Brad and his new great-grandson Jaxon (Melbourne), Bill and Lori, Jake and Maddie (California). His family wish to express their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the Kowhai Staff at the Whitby Bupa Care Home for all the care and consideration given to Ken during his declining months. Respecting Ken’s wishes there will be no public farewell but please bless him in your thoughts.

(Formerly of Waimate). Peacefully at Strathallan Lifecare, Timaru, on March 4, 2021. Wife of the late Gerald, dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Lynette and Mike Hedges (Cromwell), Gwen Nossiter and Reg (Kaiapoi), Tina and Kevin Williams (Timaru), Mark and Shirlene Nossiter (Timaru), Vicki and Allan West (Kaiapoi), Sonia Nossiter and Steve (Christchurch), and a dearly loved Nana Barbara of all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Passed away peacefully at GB Community Health surrounded by her family. Warick and Leanne, Gary and Vanessa, and families would like to thank the wonderful hospital staff who cared so well for mum and supported us during her journey.
