Died peacefully in his sleep on 3rd February 2023; in his 92nd year. Much loved husband of Ruth; Father and father-in-law of Eric & Joanna, and Karen; Opa of Josh, Sarah, Thomas, Max, Lola, and Coco. A Memorial Service for Melis will be held in the Woodside Estate, 132 Woodside Road, Tamahere, Hamilton, on Wednesday, 8th February 2023 at 2.00pm.

GENDERS, Lilian Rose (Lily) (nee Whitehead)

Lily passed away peacefully on Thursday 2 February 2023, at Kenwyn Rest Home with daughter Mandy holding her hand. Loving wife of the late John. Loving mum and mother-in-law of Mandy, Gary and Fiona, Andrew and Wendy, the late Julie and Tim. Adored Nan of Amy, Ryan, Jordan, Laura, Daniel, Louise, Cheri, Marie, Regan, Jaide and Haylee. Much loved Super Nan of Ben, Toby, Poppy, Jack, Mila, Alba, Nala, Abigail and Emily. A celebration of Lily’s life will be held in the Te Aroha RSA, Rewi St, at 1.00pm, Friday 10 February, followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers donations can be left at the service for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. All communications c/- the Genders family to 6 Tamihana St, Matamata.

O’BRIEN, Audrey Elizabeth (Betty) (nee Egan)

Passed away peacefully at Elloughton Gardens on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, aged 84 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Lewis O’Brien. Loved daughter of the late Florence and Frank Egan (Invercargill). Loved mother and mother-in-law of Vicki, Mark and Michelle, Andrena and Malcolm, and Richard. Cherished nana of Andrew, Daniel and Rosie, Hamish and Bonnie, Sameer and Ziyad and a great-nana of Harrison. Thanks to the amazing staff at Elloughton Gardens for taking great care of Betty during her short journey. A service for Betty will be held in St Thomas’ Church, 12 Mountain View Road, Timaru, on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 1.00pm, followed by a private cremation. HINDS, Patricia May

Passed away on 1 February 2023, aged 81 years. Very dearly loved and adored mother of Christopher, Nana of Nicha, dearly loved sister of John and Kay, Judy and the late Ken, Marlene, Carol and Bob, and the late Graham. Very dearly loved Aunty to all her nieces and nephews. So sadly missed. Pat’s service will be held at Hamilton Crematorium Greenwood Chapel, Morrinsville Road, Newstead, on Thursday 9th February at 11.00am. Beloved wife of the late Gwen Salisbury, Father of Patricia, Janice and Michael and Grandad to five grandchildren. On February 2, 2023, at Christchurch Hospital, aged 91 years. Dearly loved husband of Caroline. A much loved father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Christchurch Hospital for the outstanding care given to Cyril. MILLS, Helen Lytle

It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that on February 2, 2023, at Christchurch Hospital, a day after her 86th birthday, our darling treasured mum passed away. Loved wife of the late Gavin, much cherished and adored mum and mother-in-law Kerin and Tony Brand, Brent and Sharon, Dean and Sugar, and Megan and Brent Boyd, special gran to Simon, Adam, Gemma, Nathan, Hamish, Katie, Kenji, Charlotte, Max and their partners, loved Gan-Gan to Chloe, Jack, Thomas, Awhina, Billie, and Samantha. Many thanks to the incredible care and support shown to Mum at Ashley Suites, Russley Village, by the staff and residents, and also the compassionate hospital staff in the Emergency Department at Christchurch Hospital.

Of Plimmerton. Peacefully at Wellington Hospital on 2 February 2023. Sadly missed by all his family. Passed away at Riverleigh Home and Hospital, Lower Hutt, on Friday 3rd February 2023, aged 76 years. Beloved brother of Diane, Robert & Pam. Loved and missed by his family and friends. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Riverleigh Home for their care of Bruce. A service for Bruce will be held in the Croft Centennial Chapel, 2 Osborne Place (off Queens Drive,) Lower Hutt, on Thursday 9th February 2023 at 11.00am. TIMOTHY, Donna Ann

It is with great sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of Donna Ann Timothy. Born May 14, 1959 to Don and Cherie Timothy. Loving daughter, sister, mother, aunty, Taua and friend. She will be sorely missed by her brothers Dion, Rangi and Ricky. Her children Dwayne, Vivi, Harley and Takerei. Her mokopuna Tara, Wairongoa, Isaac, Joshua, Caleb, Hope, Aroha, Genesis, Asha, Te Ariki, Kisharna, Harry, Wiremu and Rakiwhiua and also her two great-mokopuna Kora and Jack-Douglas whom she adored dearly. She was an incredible person with an amazing story. She will be remembered by her friends and whnau for her infectious laugh, radiant smile, warmth, willingness to support and crazy stories from the 80’s. She is laying at the whnau homestead in Arowhenua. She will move to Arowhenua marae on Saturday, February 4, from 6.00pm with pwhakanghau at 7.00pm. Tangi will be held on Sunday February 5, at 10.00am. All are welcome.
