SPENCER, Geoffrey Robert

On 28th January 2023 at Palmerston North Hospital, Geoff passed away peacefully, aged 96, surrounded by his children. Beloved husband of the late Maureen. Dearly loved father of John and Vicki, Liz Watts (and the late Noel), David and Liz, Jude and Earl Kennedy. Much loved granddad of Kate, Paula, Erin, Karl, Donna, Kim, Emma, Luke, Lauren, Jana, Abby and Levi. Treasured great-granddad of Jalen, Kobe, Noah, Hanna, Tyler, Amelia, Ellie, Ruby, Max, Emmy, Penny, Walter and Oscar. Many thanks to the caring staff at Masonic Village Rest Home over the past three years. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tearfund would be appreciated. A service to celebrate the life of Geoff will be held at United Parish Church on Oxford Street, Levin, on Tuesday 7th February 2023 at 1.00pm.

WILSON, Anne Helen (nee Steedman)

Passed away, Monday, 30 January 2023, at Pohlen Hospital. In her 75th year. Dearly loved wife of Lloyd. Loved sister of Johnny, Shirley, Peter, Ian and Greg. Loved by all of her neices and nephews. A service to celebrate Anne’s life will be held in The Matamata Club, Rawhiti Room, Rawhiti Ave, Saturday, 4 February, at 1.00pm. BROUGH, Richard Arthur (Dick)

Aged 92. Passed away peacefully on Sunday 29th January 2023 at Matamata Country Lodge. Gone to be with his beloved late wife, Kath. Sorely missed by Debra and David, Simon and Shirley, Raewyn and Kevin, his seven grandchildren and six and a half great-grandchildren. He will be missed for his humour, card playing and horse racing. Thanks to the staff at Matamata Country Lodge for the care they gave him. A farewell will be held at the Matamata Club on Thursday 2nd February at 11.00am. Peacefully at Vincentian Home, Berhampore. Priest of the Archdiocese of Wellington. Dearly loved son of Margaret Carde (nee Leach) and George Ellis Carde. Loved brother of Father Peter Carde (dec), Chris Carde (dec) and Louise Carde, Ivan Snook (dec) and Josie. Loved uncle of his nieces and nephews and his extended family who have so kindly visited him through these last months. He is mourned by us all. In her 95th year, surrounded by her family, peacefully passed away on January 29, 2023 at the Little Sisters of the Poor, Dunedin. Dearly loved wife of the late Frank. Cherished and loved mother and mother-in-law of Mary Burke (and the late Michael) and Bob, Anita (late) and Warren Jordan, Brian and Jane, Ian and Edel, the late Patrick, Therese and Gerry, Monica and Steve Hailes-Paku, Pauline and Michael Campbell, Danny and Sarah, David and Gina, and Louise and Philip Tod. Much loved daughter of Annie and Ian Macpherson, and cherished sister to Hector, Anna Hanley, Ian, Basil and Frank. Beloved Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother, relative and dear friend to many.

Requiem Mass will be held at St Francis Xavier Church, Benhar Street, Mornington, Dunedin, on Friday, February 3 at 10.00am, followed by a cup of tea, then on to the Waitahuna Cemetery arriving by 2.00pm. Passed away after a short illness on 30th January 2023. Much loved husband and soulmate of Barbara. Loved father and father-in-law of Sue and Gordon (Australia), Bridget and Mike (Australia) and Gordon and Leanne (Hamilton) and loved grandfather. According to Mike’s wishes a private cremation has been held. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
