Peacefully at Okere House on Friday 21st April 2023, aged 81 years. Loved wife of the late Patrick James. Much loved mum and mother-in-law of Stephen and Keri-Lee, and Michael and Marcia. Of Palmerston North. Passed away peacefully at Radius Peppertree, Palmerston North, on Sunday 23 April 2023. Aged 94 years. Dearly loved husband of Yvonne, and the late Enid, and the late Glenda. Loved Dad of Stephen and Lois (New Plymouth), & Gloria and Charles (Foxton). Loved by all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Loved brother of Ngaire. Loved by his extended family and friends. A service to celebrate Ivan’s life will be held in the Salvation Army Citadel, 431 Church Street, Palmerston North, on Monday 1 May 2023, at 1.00pm. BRIGHOUSE, Edwin (Russell)

On Sunday, April 23, 2023, peacefully at Nelson Hospital, aged 96 years. Loved husband of the late Deseree Brighouse (nee Morrison), adored father to Daryl, Paul (deceased), Deborah and Michael ,and their partners. Loved and loving grandfather and great-grandfather whose love will be missed deeply. In honour of our father and his wish for privacy at this time, an immediate family-only service then private cremation will take place this week. A full celebration of Russ and Des’s life will be held at a later date with friends and family to acknowledge the love we had for both of them – and them for us. The family would like to acknowledge those angels otherwise known as caregivers at Summerset In The Sun Care Centre who made his life so much better each and every day. Also the amazing transitioning/hospice team at Nelson Hospital who managed those final days with such compassion, tender care, empathy and professionalism. Passed away peacefully in Holly’s arms at Jean Sandel Retirement Village on Sunday 23 April 2023, aged 91 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Owen. Loved and cherished Mum of Jo, Pete, and Donna. Loved and adored Nani to Pia, Holly, Josh, and Jasmine, and Great-Nani to Hayden. Happily remembered by all.

Passed suddenly in Wellington on 15th April 2023. Loved son of Barry (dec) and Jan. Loved Grandson, Stepson, Nephew, Cousin, and Father of his children, Izzie, Fergus, Callum, Millie, Freddie. A lost and troubled soul now at Rest. A Private Ceremony was held on 18th April in Keneperu. To all Shaun’s extended family, close friends, work colleagues and those who tried to help him, Thank You so very much. I hope that in the days to come if you share memories of Shaun, you are able to talk honestly about him as the person he was. My thoughts and understanding are with you all.

MELIS, Janine (Adriana)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Janine (Adriana) Melis on Saturday 22nd April 2023 in a car accident. She was a beautiful soul, kind, generous, adventurous, intelligent and always willing to give anything a go or give anyone a hand. Janine was passionate about the environment so in lieu of flowers, it would mean the world to us if you could do something good in memory of her; clean up some trash, plant a tree, reduce your plastic use in some way. She was a beloved mum, partner and Neene and we thank all of you who grieve with us. Love the Hill, Melis, and Maclarn families. https

CARLEY, Elva Dorothy (nee Keayes)

Very peacefully on April 23 aged 93 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Rodney and mother to Michael and Karen, mother-in-law to Jo-Anne and John. Nana Elva to Anthony. Loved twin sister of the late June Passmore and big sister to Margaret Benge and their families. Born in 1929 in Lower Hutt and happy resident of Upper Hutt and St Joseph’s parish for many years, Elva spent her last years in the wonderful care of the kind and compassionate staff of Fergusson rest home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St Vincent De Paul society. Elva’s requiem mass will be held in St Joseph’s Church, Upper Hutt, on Thursday, 27 April at 11am. On Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Charles Upham Aged Care Rangiora. Dearly loved partner of Chris Lewis (Cheviot), loved father of Trent (New Plymouth), and the late Abby (deceased). Loved step-father of Matt and Annalis Lewis, and loved Poppa of Caden, Blake and Mitchell Lewis. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Lyn and Gary Hickford (New Plymouth), Peter and Janice Burnnand (Opunake), and Geoffrey and Lauren Burnnand (Cambridge). Dearly loved by all his nieces and nephews. In accordance with John’s wishes, a private cremation has been held, and an informal gathering will be held to celebrate John’s life at the Rangiora RSA on Friday, April 28, at 12 noon. Loved Mum of Murray, Gary, Janise & Neil, Dean & Vicki, Joanne & Steve, and Brendon & Mari. Loving Nana of her 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate June’s life will be held on Friday 28th April at 1.30pm at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Hawera. June’s family wish to thank the staff and management at Annie Brydon and Brydon Court for their care and support over the last 2 1/2 years.
