Do you have an Electric Vehicle? Do you need to buy Road User Charges?
From 1 April 2024 the rules have changed.
You'll need to buy Road User Charges (RUC) if your vehicle:
- is powered fully or partly from externally supplied electricity, and
- weighs 1001kg–3500kg.
The amount you pay will depend on the type of electric vehicle you have.
Anyone using New Zealand’s roads contributes towards their upkeep. Most road users pay fuel tax when they buy petrol, through fuel excise duty (FED). Others, such as drivers of diesel vehicles, pay through RUC.
See the link under 'Read More' to the government's website for the full information and link to where to purchase them online.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
