The New York-based magazine and website drew upon its global network of correspondents and contributors to compile the 100-strong list “as a tribute to the people and businesses at the forefront” of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries so badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Christchurch was commended for its ongoing transformation in the wake of the earthquake that reduced much of the city to rubble a decade ago.
While the rebuild is not complete, TIME contributor Jessica Wynne Lockhart noted vacant lots were “regularly filled with creative and interactive installations such as hammock forests and a coin-operated dance floor.”

I started dieting when I was 12 years old. I wasn’t overweight but I felt pudgy and I wanted a new boy at school to like me. Somehow, I obtained a calorie counting book and quickly memorized it. Each day, I tried hard to reach my goal of eating a certain number of calories. It was well below what I needed to eat as a growing child, but I didn’t see it that way at the time. I just wanted to get rid of my squishy stomach and eat a little less. Thus began a powerful obsession with being thin and trying to control my eating. But I also couldn’t see that at the time. I didn’t realize how much mental energy and time I spent thinking about what I was eating, when, and how much, or how inadequate I felt for not being perfect or thin enough.

A venue with 5000 fewer seats is now being mooted.
By adopting the new stadium design concept, securing a major test match – against the likes of Australia, South Africa and the Lions – would require the city to pay an incentive fee, up to about $1.2 million.
With 30,000 seats, it is understood the fee could be closer $800,000.

I was introduced to Uber which I thought was a great service in the speed of arrival (punctuality) and their general manner, but I thought the fare expensive. Today I was introduced to Ola and for the same distance the price difference was phenominal - $5.20 to be exact! The wait time and manner and all things considered being equal: all but price difference and I wonder if anyone may guess why? Given this is a Tuesday night so maybe the demand wasnt high? I ordered the Uber on a Friday. The time was within minutes of being the same and the route the same.
I am interested in hearing your experience. And yes, I have googled them for obvioud differences but they seem to be very contradictory hence real life NZ experience please?

After years of searching for a new recruit for their business, Auckland engineering firm Stainless Machinings turned to Competenz’s free job matching service to find them an ideal candidate.
In the space of a few short months, school leaver Stuart Martin joined the company.

A majority of city leaders have decided to reduce the capacity of Christchurch’s new stadium, from 30,000 seats to a minimum of 25,000, to bring the project in on budget.
Councillors and senior staff attended the extraordinary meeting on Thursday morning to decide on a design change to the stadium after it was publicly revealed the original preferred concept, which could have up to 30,000 seats, would have been over budget by up to $131.4 million.
A majority of councillors endorsed the staff recommendation to lower the number of seats to 25,000 – but designers have been directed to try and find efficiencies moving forward to get the capacity to about 27,500.

Competenz has developed a new micro-credential to meet the demands brought about by Industry 4.0.
