If you have a hidden second phone for your safety, we recommend turning it off or putting it in flight mode for the duration of the test (6-7pm on Sunday 25 May) to ensure it’s not discovered when the nationwide Emergency Mobile Alert is sent.
Some mobile devices set to silent mode will still emit a sound when the Emergency Mobile Alert test is sent, so switching to flight mode or turning off your device is the only way to avoid the loud sound of the alert.
You can find more information about the Emergency Mobile Alert system, including a factsheet and list of FAQs at www.getready.co.nz

The answer is yes, it is illegal. And yet in New Zealand it's fairly common to see drivers hitting the road with their fog lights on when it's simply dark.
Those who have sat their written drivers test recently will be in the know, but be honest, did you know it was illegal?

Here are 10 top tips to keep you moving and thriving after 50:
🚶♀️ Move more, sit less – Even light activity like walking or gardening adds up. Every bit counts!
🏋️♂️ Build strength – Include resistance exercises (like lifting groceries or using resistance bands) at least 2x a week.
🧘♂️ Improve balance – Try yoga, tai chi, or standing on one leg while brushing your teeth.
🕺 Do what you enjoy – Dancing, swimming, walking the dog – anything that keeps you moving.
📆 Make it routine – Schedule activity into your day, just like brushing your teeth.
👟 Wear good shoes – Supportive footwear helps prevent slips, trips, and injuries.
🫀 Know your limits – Start small and build up gradually, especially if it’s been a while.
🤝 Stay social – Join a walking group, fitness class, or invite a friend to move with you.
🧠 Keep your brain active too – Moving your body also boosts brain health and mood!
✅ Get checked – Talk to your doctor before starting a new exercise plan, especially if you have health conditions.
✨ Your body is made to move – keep it working for you!
📣 Share with a friend and be active together💪
