Throwback Thursday: Flockton flooding
A Flockton Basin resident wanders down a deserted and flooded Harrison St. The Flockton Basin area had flooded yet again when more than 60mm of rain fell in Christchurch during one night in April 2014.
It contrasts to this week's heavy rain event, which caused significant flooding in some parts of Canterbury, but not in Flockton Basin.
Many put this down to the fact the Christchurch City Council has spent tens of millions of dollars in the past five years protecting those areas from flood waters.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
