Canterbury has been named the fifth most welcoming region in the world in the Booking.com Traveller Review Awards, while Oamaru, Hokitika and Invercargill have been named the most welcoming towns in NZ. They were followed by Cambridge, Picton, Lake Tekapo, Kerikeri, Palmerston North, Paihia and Twizel.
We'd be really keen to hear your thoughts on this based on your own travels around New Zealand. Do you think Canterbury is NZ's most welcoming region? And are these our most welcoming towns?
Where in NZ have you been made to feel particularly welcome on your travels?
As usual, please put 'NFP' in your comment if you don't want it to be included in an article. Cheers.

Qigong
Qigong is an ancient Chinese holistic therapy. It is the foundation to Tai Chi, but relatively simpler than Tai Chi.
Qigong includes dynamic and static forms.
Zhineng Qigong
Zhineng Qigong emphasises moving meditation rather than static meditation.
It uses the consciousness, body, breath, sound vibration and universal Qi(energy) to bring about positive transformation of the body, mind and spirit.
“After practicing Zhineng Qigong, my cancer disappeared. In the practice, I feel protected, joyful, safe and more energy. Healing comes naturally when we get out of the way and go beyond our attachments. Our new life is starting Now!”
~ Luise Kohl-Hajek, Germany
“The gentle movements stretch every muscle in my body although they look very simple. My muscles feel stronger, and I am mentally stronger too. While practicing, I feel the sense of “unity with the universe.””
~ Susan Sky, NZ
“Through regular qigong practice, my back pain is healed and my spine is more flexible. I had also been suffering severe shoulder pain for months. Just like a miracle, after one qigong class the pain had gone. The pain did come back a couple of days later, but much milder. After regular practice, I am pain free. This was a wow fact for me. I LOVE the feeling of connectin to the Universal Qi, and would like to share qigong with others.”

Hi everyone. Can anyone recommend a good plasterer/company please. I need my new openplan kitchen/dining/living room ceiling plastered. I would rather get someone who has been recommended than take a stab in the dark. Thanks.

After living in emergency accommodation for nearly a year, Amanda Jackson-Brown will move into a new home next week – and she cannot wait.
The 51-year-old Christchurch woman will be one of the first tenants to move into Brougham Village, a new 90-home community housing project developed by Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust (OCHT).
Jackson-Brown, a former beauty therapist who has suffered from mental health and addiction issues, said moving into the one-bedroom unit would allow her to get her life back on track.
The Brougham St development is the largest ever commissioned by OCHT and replaces 89 social housing units demolished following the 2011 earthquakes.

Wow. This is what greeted me in my wee vege patch after a fortnight away on leave. My veges are thriving - all but one broccoli plant in amongst them all tho, so I thought to give them a bloody good soak before I tackled the "invaders" today. I wonder what they are?

Only thing I can think of is the mulch I threw over the patch last winter made up of oak leaves from the park across the road.......? Dig them back in or put to compost? What say you Discerners?
