Christchurch subdivision could become major traffic thoroughfare
Residents of a sleepy Christchurch neighbourhood fear new connecting roads will make it a busy commuter route.
The small subdivision of Cameo Grove lies in northeast Christchurch, near Burwood Hospital. A street there, also called Cameo Grove, is at present split into east and west.
In consultation with the Christchurch City Council, Prestons Park developer CDL Land plans to connect the two parts of the street and join both to Katrine Drive to the north.
Residents in the cul-de-sac say connecting the roads will make the area a shortcut for commuters using the busy Mairehau and Burwood roads.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
