'Homecoming'

Franklin Arts Centre from Franklin Arts Centre

'Homecoming'
Simon Brown
28 February - 18 March

'Homecoming' celebrates Simon Brown’s journey since graduating from the 'No More Horsing Around' photography course held right here in the rooms above this gallery in 2016. As Simon opens his treasure chest in this, his first exhibition, his hope is that you may be moved by the stories told here, resonate with the images and be inspired to follow your passion. And, yes, as a debutant, there are nerves but what better place to share his story than in his own hometown surrounded by the art he has created and with the people he loves.

This collection includes a wide range of subject matter from all over New Zealand and beyond; each piece has been chosen because of the story it tells, the feedback Simon has received and the joy they bring to him personally.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: As a customer, what do you think about automation?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
