What's on: Let's Talk Rubbish - Plastic Free July - Thursday 28 July 6:30pm
How conscious are you of your footprint?
All of us will leave one - how big though, is up to us.
Join Conscious Action as we explore the world of waste during #plasticfreejuly!
During this event we’ll learn about the different waste streams that we contribute to as individuals, how our habits impact our environment, the sharing and circular economies and what they mean for our future, as well as ways to adopt a zero-waste lifestyle, reduce our footprint and have a positive impact in the world.
Come along to meet like-minded individuals, watch the 'For The Blue' documentary, join an interactive discussion with our guest speakers, a mindful moment, sharing and action setting.
For The Blue, which details how plastic pollution is damaging our environment, whilst showing the real world solutions on how to fix it. 3 years spent documenting the journey, spending time in places like Hawaii, Malaysia and at home here in New Zealand, seeing the consequences of our waste ending up in our environment.
Speaking to people who are leading the plastic free movement, whilst documenting how we can all be part of the solution, rather than the problem.
Their goal is to inspire the next generation of change makers, to think big about the issues we face, and to act.

Some Choice News!
DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.
Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.
For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.
Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
We hope this brings a smile!
