Michelle of Colour Our Story and Brian of Conscious Action are coming together for a Purposeful and Joyful Sunday afternoon filled with global connection, mindfulness and creativity.

Colour Our Story facilitates the creation of colouring-in books by children for children across the World. These books are designed to empower, inspire and create a real sense of connection and global citizenship through the magical and therapeutic powers of storytelling and creativity.

Conscious Action facilitates spaces to raise awareness and inspire meaningful action on topics that range from sustainability to wellbeing and everything related to conscious living.

Once again Colour Our Story has a beautiful collection of drawings and stories, this time collected from children in Bali and Aotearoa. And you will get to view them first before they go into our special colouring in books with stories.

In addition you will get to enjoy the creative therapy of tracing the children's drawings, which is part of our creative bookmaking process, while soaking in some mindfulness moments with Brian as well as some delicious nibbles, mulled wine, non alcoholic drinks, relaxing music and of course the beautiful company of each other as you get to know the children through their artworks.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re recognising all the amazing volunteers who form the backbone of emergency response in Aotearoa and support their communites every day.
THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!
When Aotearoa faces challenging times, Kiwis always step up to support people in need. Volunteers are instrumental in ensuring that we get through, together.

“Every day, a network of 11,000 Red Cross volunteers and members across the country help us respond to disasters, settle new Kiwis, help run our shops, deliver Meals on Wheels, teach former refugees how to drive, sew curtains for families in need, and so much more. Last financial year, Red Cross volunteers gave close to 120,000 hours of their time. They are the hands and feet of almost everything we accomplish,” says Niamh Lawless, our Secretary General.

Residential driveways require design and construction and consideration needs to be given around type of finish.

Driveway finishes can include options such as broom or exposed aggregate.

Broom Finish:

A smooth concrete surface finish will be treacherous to walk on if it is wet or frosty and evermore so if there is a slope. A light broom finish provides some skid resistance.

Exposed Aggregate Finish:

Exposed Aggregates are achieved by washing away the top layer of concrete to leave the surface layer of aggregate exposed. Pebbles for this type of finish are sourced locally from regions throughout New Zealand and each has its own unique mix and “local” look.

If you have a concrete project in mind feel free to drop us a line.

The SMC Pasifika Student and Parent Committee are proud to present their first ever Pasifika Roots Talanoa. This is a free event which will be held on Saturday 18 July in the St Mary’s College Cecilia Maher Hall here at 11 New Street, Ponsonby, Auckland.

The aim of the Talanoa is to provide support for young people to help them thrive at school and within their families and communities. There will be wonderful guest speakers including past pupils Lupesina Koro and Nele Kalolo, as well as food and entertainment.

As this is our first Talanoa, we are in need of a small amount of financial support to help us bring it all together. If you can help in any small way please email jsheehan@stmaryak.school.nz
We will also provide great recognition for your support both pre and post-event.
