Te reo is in the spotlight and is being celebrated throughout the country as part of Māori Language Week. This week, Barbershop in Blue returned with a waiata, parents shared stories about raising children as bilingual, Stuff became Puna, and the future of te reo in NZ was debated.

Teens 14 - 18 years old are invited to a FREE workshop on Saturday September 29 from 6 pm- 8 pm at the Uxbridge Art & Culture in Te Whare Ora with Youth Tribe facilitators Dee Petit and Clint Taniguchi.

This workshop is an introduction to the 8 week Youth Tribe Leadership Program, starting in Term 4, which takes teens through creative experiences in finding one's 'True North.'

Liam completed his National Certificate in Security, Level 2, at the end of 2017 and has now got employment with Simply Security Ltd, a well-known company, working at a number of sites throughout the country.

Liam has joined a number of fellow Skills Update security course colleagues who are also working there. During the last week he has completed the induction for new employees and is currently stationed at a major construction site in downtown Auckland City.

From here Liam hopes to move shortly to join other Skills security course graduates at the site of the University of Auckland. Liam said he is finding the work interesting and challenging and credits the training he received at the security course as a major help in enabling him to put theory into practice.

Congratulations Liam, awesome job!
