Help needed for 87 yr olds PHD survey

Liz from Kohimarama

Good morning.

Could you help my Mum with the PhD survey, please see below.

"Hello to you all, I am struggling to find participants for my surveys and calling on you all to help me

At my age (87) I have a very small network, so I am reaching out to you all.

The topic of my PhD research thesis is:

Inaccessibility to the Built Environment for Mobility Challenged People:

Introducing Enforceable Accessibility to Public Buildings into New Zealand’s Law.

Firstly, I am surveying mobility challenged people to ask them what problems they have accessing public buildings.

the link for this survey is:

Here is some extra information about me and my research project:

"Hello, my name is Margaret June Stefanitsis, and I am a doctoral candidate researching accessibility to public buildings (all buildings except residential homes) for people with mobility impairments. This includes those with a lower body physical disability that affects their movement, so they need to use a mobility device (wheelchair, mobility scooter, walker, cane, or crutches).

Accessibility to these buildings has become a central issue for persons with mobility impairments globally, however many able-bodied people (including legislators) have no knowledge of the apprehension of accessibility that mobility-impaired people experience when approaching a building for the first time.

I am currently recruiting participants to survey for this research and the questions being asked will help me to collect data on this specific issue for the first time in New Zealand. I would be very grateful if you would help me with my research, which I will be sharing with legislators and asking them for their help to change existing laws/regulations that do not enforce the removal of barriers in buildings and their surroundings. If we can achieve this, it will allow people with disabilities to have a better quality of life.

If you are interested in participating in this research, please do so.

I would be grateful if you pass it to any interested friends as well.

For any questions, please contact me,

The survey is anonymous so when you click on submit it will go directly into Google forms as part of the analysis.

You can reach me at:

Phone: 09 521 1223

Mobile: 021 292 2481

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you if you have questions"

Best wishes

Margaret

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
