Aucklanders have been barred from entering the upcoming Rotorua Marathon due to Covid-19 fears, despite Government restrictions allowing domestic travel.
Participants were told via a Facebook post on Monday that the annual event, which usually attracts around 3000 runners, was still going ahead, but that Auckland runners would not be allowed to enter.
They were also told they would be receiving a 50 per cent refund, or a free transfer to the next event.
