The SPCA is appealing for keen cooks to take part in its annual Cupcake Day fundraiser on November 2.
The event has raised nearly $3.2 million over the years, helping tens of thousands of animals that come through SPCA's doors each year in need of care, shelter and veterinary treatment.
Budding chefs are invited to whip up a batch of cupcakes before selling them at work, school and to family and friends.
Last year saw 1092 home bakers and 641 businesses get involved.
SPCA CEO Andrea Midgen said recent events had taken a big bite out of the charity but here was something tangible supporters could do to help.
Funds raised will be used to aid in rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing animals in need around the country.

I am writing this for my friend Paula as she is not a member of Neighbourly due to the fact that she has just returned to NZ from US.
Unfortunately on arrival she has just sustained a back injury and so stuck at home without an income.
The thing is she is smart, articulate and computer literate (familiar with several CRMS) with a great sense of humour.
She is seeking casual work that she can do from home in her own time.... so if you have any tasks that she can help with eg packing, sorting, ironing, data entry, cooking etc please contact her directly.
She is a great friend, wonderful worker.
She can be contacted on 0224542189

I watch the sun rising, do some stretches, and meditate, setting up the beginning of the day so I can take that sense of being present, calm and grounded through the rest of the day.
For me, it sure beats reaching for my phone as soon as I wake up, a tendency I used to have which left me feeling agitated right away, yet the documentary “The social dilemma” suggests that is what most people do. If you would like to find out more about the mindfulness practices I teach, see my website below or contact me directly - Eve
