SPCA calls for law change to ban life-long chaining of dogs
The SPCA is calling on the Government to ban the prolonged chaining and confinement of dogs in Aotearoa.
Thousands of dogs spend their lives chained up in backyards or kept in confined spaces, the charity said.
However, the existing laws make it difficult for inspectors to intervene unless there are clear signs of physical suffering, such as injury or starvation.
