Containers and food donations needed
Kia ora, I’ve recently started the Tāmaki Makaurau chapter of Food Not Bombs. We cook meals for people experiencing food insecurity across the city. We are greatly in need of freezer- and microwave-safe containers (e.g. that takeaways come in) and donations of veggies, beans, or pasta to cook with. As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
