Visitor restrictions for hospitals and facilities due to COVID-19

Important update from our Tumu Tikanga, Mahaki Albert in te reo Maaori. As part of our response to COVID-19, we are limiting the number of visitors for patients at all our hospitals and outpatient facilities, to two people. If you’re unwell whaanau, please stay home. You will be screened before entering the hospital and will be turned away if you’re unwell or have travelled. Tamariki under 15 will not be able to visit at this time. The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
