Support a young person with a disability.

This awesome job is supporting a young disabled man to have a meaningful and fun couple of hours twice per week. He is looking for someone to work Wednesdays and Fridays for two hours during the day. Are you a student looking for a few hours of fun paid work or a retired grandad with energy and time to spare?

He loves activities like ten pin bowling, or going to the park, plus reading books, playing with puzzles and games on the rainy days. His disability means that he needs you to explain what is happening throughout the day. Things like where you are going, what’s happening next and be a physical guide as he has low vision. You also need to be calm and patient allowing him time to process his thoughts. He loves being busy and being out and about so if you feel the same then great, and if you love to make someone's day and are a keen supporter, then get in touch. A full driver's licence is required to go on some awesome adventures.

Do you want a job that makes a real difference?

A Flatbush family are looking for someone to support their autistic 8 year old son. He loves bike riding, spend time at the playground and being outside. Your role would be to get him out of the house, burning off his energy and having some fun experiences.

To be the right person for this job you need to bring some energy, compassion and leadership skills to the role. His autism means he often communicates with his action more than his words, so you need to be the kind of person who is going to be engaged and active alongside him.

Ideally you would have a full drivers licence, a car and experience with kids or people with autism. You might want to work a few hours, or up to 25. The hours are all after school, in the weekends and as much as you want in the school holidays.

If you are interested please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message.

• Are you playful, fun yet calm, gentle and responsible?
• Want to have a fun job supporting a 10yr old at home and in the community?
• Do you have experience or knowledge of people with autism?

We are looking for someone to support a 10yr old boy with autism and developmental delay to enjoy his afternoons after school on Wednesdays and in the school holidays. Hours are 2.30pm-3pm start time to 4.30-5pm finish on Wednesdays. School holidays would be 2 or 3 days per week 10 – 3 or 4pm. We would love someone open to some extra hours occasionally. Alternatively, if Wednesday afternoons don’t suit then once a fortnight on a Saturday would be great.

Patience, calmness, fun and energy are key to be successful. With a responsible attitude and willingness to support this nonverbal young man to develop skills. The afternoon will consist of activities such as going to the local playground, visit the library, sensory play or drawing at home. Physically fit enough to push this 10yr old in his stroller is a must and a calm and gentle nature to be able to support him when he becomes anxious. Willingness to learn his communication device (Ipad) which supports his speech and expressive language.

Have fun whilst supporting a young man to enjoy his afternoons too!

A full drivers licence and a car are essential. Give us a call today
