Hi Auckland,

How are you commemorating Anzac Day? What stories have been passed down through your whānau?

April 25 marks the 106-year anniversary of the Gallipoli landings, one of the most costly campaigns for the Allied Forces during World War I.

Anzac dawn and commemorative services up and down the country are scheduled to get underway after widespread cancellations last year, due to the nation being under Alert Level 4 restrictions.

The NZDF have advised of a reduced presence of military personnel at Anzac services due to deployment at MIQ facilities.

You can check out where the Anzac day services are on this interactive map on the RSA website.

Feel free and share your stories below and don't forget to type NFP if you don't want your comments used your local community paper.

Learning about ANZAC Day

Theresa Vause from English Language Partners Auckland South

Learners from our Papatoetoe ESOL literacy classes learnt about ANZAC Day. They made some poppies and visited the Papatoetoe Historical Society Museum where they learnt how medals were crafted and about the RSA.
Thank you to the Papatoetoe Historical Society Museum for having us.

The three-course menu includes a fish dish, involving the filleting of a fish, freshly made ribbon pasta and dessert - all with a Mediterranean theme. Take a look at this week's impressive efforts enjoyed by the Advanced students. They then serve the meal for their own guest and also get to sit down and eat with them.

Here are some photos of the creative dishes prepared for the Mediterranean Luncheon.

Hi Neighbours,

About 4.45am on Sunday morning, my car was broken into parked at the church on symonds street, Royal oak by the big Royal oak round about.

The priest of thee church woke to their house being burgled around the same time.

My handbag and laptop hidden under the shopping bags - which I normally would leave in of course - were stolen.

The laptop bag is very distinctive with a black back and strap and a NZ art design. The laptop is a silver HP.

Inside my handbag which is grey, was a few things including a sentimental ring from Tahiti with two pearls coming together. This would not. Normally be seen in NZ.

There was also a card holder wallet with credit cards, license etc.

They walked down symonds street towards Royal oak intermediate as many items from my bag were scattered along the footpath.

Any help would be amazing even security footage along this road.

A police report has been done.

Thank you all.

kittens for adoption

Dorina from Papatoetoe

I used to feed a stray cat and now she brought her 3 kittens on my deck. They suck and eat solid food too. I have a dog, and he is not very very happy about this. If anybody wants 1 or all, please let me know. They are friendly, they look very healthy and well looked after.
