Kiwirail has decided to move the future Drury West train station in the same lineal direction of the planned railway but almost 500 metres from the main hub of schools, services, businesses and mall center. Additionally the place where they plan to allocate the station will not make it possible for those of us wanting to reduce the use of cars to commute in a safe and secure manner. Looking at the other southern train stations, it looks like a repitition of the same behavior of decisions to allocate train stations far from services, schools or businesses. (An exception to this is Middlemore Hospital, Newmarket and Britomart). If our vision is to reduce our carbon footprint, how can you help prevent the same errors being made in these kinds of decisions? You can read more about this on the following link: www.rnz.co.nz...

All regions outside of the Auckland and Northland region will move to Alert Level 3 11.59pm Tuesday August 31.

In a press conference Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed that Auckland and Northland will likely need to complete a further full two weeks at level 4 in order to keep the Delta variant from spreading further in the regions.

Here's what you need to know
- There will be regional boundaries, there will be no travel allowed between regions unless required for essential services.
- Boundaries maintained in the last February lockdown will be reinstated.
- Around 500 locations of interest have been identified.
- The exposure site in Warkworth is a large workplace. Ardern hoped the people of Northland will understand why they're moving with caution. Northland won't always be grouped in with Auckland.

A mysterious singer has treated his Mt Eden neighbours to a backyard concert.

Locals gathered out onto their balconies on Wednesday afternoon, with some pulling up lawn chairs, to enjoy the music.

“He was singing old school songs, like Elvis. It was pretty good, people were into it,” Nikolina Ivanovic, who lives adjacent to the musician, said.

“Almost everyone came out onto their decks to watch, it was quite cute.”

The identity of the singer is yet unknown, but he confidently belted out covers into his microphone.

Ivanovic said it left her feeling nice and happy.

“It was good to have something different in my day, rather than just work, so it was a good way to break up the day,” she said.

“He said I’m bored, your bored, let’s bring some happiness into these times.”

A doctor is putting out a call-out for local businesses doing contactless deliveries so hospital staff can know where to find them.

Contactless deliveries from butchers, bakeries and green-grocers can continue under alert level 4.

Ponsonby resident Dr Steph Addison said health workers have been under pressure since last week’s snap lockdown.

“This lockdowns come on quickly, and we’re busy working and dealing with all of the changes in terms of our workplace, organising childcare,”

“So you don’t really have a lot of time to sit online and see where is delivering where to get things.”

Addison said she felt this was a good way to support local businesses as well help out her colleagues.

“I thought it might help the people at work to know where they can get some really nice supplies to keep them going,” she said.

“To cheer people up with some nice food and drink during the lockdown, and help some local businesses as well.”

Can you recommend a business doing contactless deliveries to help health workers?

Apprentice Baker position

Jeff from Freemans Bay

Countdown Ponsonby had an ad stuck on their inner front door (by the security guard / sanitiser) advertising an apprenticeship in that store. If it has been filled it would pay to remember Countdown as an option - I didn’t realise they offered positions like this.
