Two male kakapo have been nursed back to health at Auckland Zoo.

They were part of a group of three brought to the zoo's vet hospital in February by conservation partners at Kakapo Recovery.

The trio was suffering from cloacitis, an inflammation of the cloaca which can cause painful scabbing.

Bravo and Tautahi have flown back home- as passengers on an Air New Zealand plane.

They are settling back in at Whenua Hou Island, west of Stewart Island.

The third kakapo, Huhu, is still being treated at the hospital.

Zoo staff said she is an "absolute sweetheart" and is responding well to treatment.

The vet team has been researching the causes of cloacitis.

AT chief executive Shane Ellison said the technology will give public transport operators more flexibility and complement existing electric bus services.

Built by Global Bus Ventures in Christchurch, the $1.175m bus will run between Howick and Britomart.

It will be run by transport operator Howick and Eastern for the initial two-year trial on route 70 from Botany to Britomart via Panmure.

The three-axle bus will use a hydrogen fuel cell to generate electricity along with batteries and the only byproducts produced will be water, electricity and heat.

What do you think of the new bus?

Hi neighbours!

After more than a year of closed borders, Australians and New Zealanders will soon be able to jet-hop between countries after the government announced that the trans-Tasman travel bubble will be operational from April 19.

With quarantine-free travel now possible, are you more likely to head across the Tasman or travel domestically?

Fronting Australian media yesterday, Jacinda Ardern not only spoke of the excitement of families being able to be reunited, but also pitched New Zealand tourist activities to Australian viewers.

"If there is a hot spot in one of the states of Australia we may just act in the same way that another state would ... Just prepare that there may be disruptions, but what better place in the world to be stuck. Am I right?," she said.

The trans-Tasman bubble will operate on a three tier basis: Continue, Pause and Suspend. If there are a few cases in Australia linked to the border, quarantine-free travel will continue. Travel may be paused for 72 hours if there are rogue community cases and in the instance of a state or nationwide lockdown, travel will be suspended.

I started religiously checking my receipts after the first time I got double-charged, and can not believe it keeps happening. I know its only $3 here or $7 there, but given it has happened every time for me, it must be wide spread. I called the store to advise them and whilst they asked me to email my bank account so they could refund me $3 (which I can't be bothered doing!) they didn't ask for my name or number - so I doubt they are really bothered.
