Waitākere Ranges Local Board wants to apply for accreditation to gain international dark sky park status, but there are a number of steps to address first.
An Auckland Council spokesperson said Arataki, Huia, Whatipū, Karekare, Piha, Anawhata and Te Henga were all good places in the area to see the dark sky.

According to Fisheries NZ, the daily limit for green-lipped mussels at Muriwai Beach was 25 per person.

Note that the detachable Day-Trip Backpack is missing (and the price reflects that) but I would recommend a more fashionable one for going out at night anyway (you’ll probably want to take your valuables with you and not leave them in your tent or room). I would also always carry the small backpack at the front for easy access to water, food, money, documents, medication, phone, kindle, maps, etc (and pickpockets love it when you carry a small rucksack strapped on at the back - seriously: don’t do that!).
