Located in Riverhead ZaberriWorld is a berry farm where visitors can pick their own strawberries, raspberries and blackberries.
ZaberriWorld also offers a variety of fun outdoor activities including an adventure inflatable, trampolines, a free train ride and ice cream.
Boman Zakeri, ZaberriWorld owner, was 15 when he started working in the industry. Even as a young man, he had a vision to own his very own berry farm one day.
Zakeri said: “Waitangi is an important event we should never forget our history. It is important for our younger generation to learn more about it.”
While many Waitangi Day events were cancelled, whānau and friends who came to ZaberriWorld had the chance to see farm animals from Little Bo Peep’s Mobile Home up close.
Jessica Fernandez, who went with her mum and dad, said: “It was a really good family experience.”
Samantha Carruthers, manager of ZaberriWorld, said: “It was great to see so many happy kids who had gumboots on and rain jackets. Even with a bit of drizzle, it was good to see people get out trying to enjoy there weekend.”

Residents of Te Atatū Peninsula say over the summer, up to 50 cars park up at the Concourse in nearby Henderson, where they blast music throughout the night.
While a range of music can be heard coming from the speakers attached to the cars, two hit songs by Celine Dion seem to be favourites – My Heart Will Go On and The Power of Love.

A light brush with the nettle on your leg or arm, can leave you with a tingling sensation that persists for 24 hours.
Ongaonga has been linked to unexplained deaths of people walking through a dense patch and being overcome. With this mind, I decided to have a go cutting back a particularly annoying patch on our main track to the paddock we call, Waterses.
The Ongaonga bushes were above and below the track so I had to form a strategy so that I would safe. I found a large set of old tree branch loppers (giant secateurs) in the shed and then opted to take a piece of cloth, that used to cover our cool display cabinet in my old café.

(Covid permitting). For now we will keep going forward.

Simple solutions to single use are our focus for Tuesday Tips, from home made cleaners to shopping bags, bunting to cutlery holders for celebrations. Basic sewing machine skills are required but if you don't have them yet then join one of our Learn to Sew sessions in the afternoon where you will learn to thread a machine, wind a bobbin and learn straight and zigzag stitches on the machine. These are FREE workshops and all materials will be supplied, donations are gratefully accepted to keep the van running and the insurances covered and all those other basics that we need.
