Te Radar’s Antarcticana

HILARIOUS TRUE TALES FROM THE FROZEN SOUTH

Amateur historian, and the country’s worst television gardener, Te Radar presents Antarcticana, an illustrated comedic lecture on all things Antarctic.

He asks the questions you may never have thought of, and provides answers you never realized you wanted to know, about the land that Capt. Robert Scott called” This Awful Place”. The show may also shatter any illusions you had about the innocence of penguins.

After travelling to the icy continent by ship in 2012 as part of Gareth Morgan’s Our Far South project, Te Radar realised he knew even less about the place than he thought, and was captivated by the stories of others who went there and suffered.

As Te Radar says, “For early explorers it was so remote and perilous it may as well have been the Moon. If they got into trouble, they could rest easy in the knowledge it was the last trouble they’d would ever get into.”

Te Radar’s Antarcticana is a funny (and educational) romp through Antarctica’s fascinating past and present. The show focuses on the heroism and hilarity that has shaped the icy continent’s history.

With the aid of a visual presentation rich with photographs, maps, and film, this show proves that what we think we know about Antarctica is just the tip of the iceberg.

Not only have we got Te Radar's Antarcticana, but we now have

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
