Hi Auckland,

A $452 million 21-storey high-rise building has been unveiled and is to be built above one of Auckland's new railway stations.

Auckland Council has signed over a $40 million, 125-year lease to a Malaysian developer which will see construction take place over the City Rail Link's underground Aotea Station set to open in 2024.

The plans include commercial and retail space, 60 apartments and a public plaza. The developer, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), will begin construction of the nearly half-billion dollar building after the completion of the station in 2024, and is expected to take about three years.

What do you think about the design?

Commuters can prepare themselves for an earlier merge at the Greville Rd southbound on-ramp on the northern motorway.

Lane changes in effect from March 15 will see the ramp's T2 lane merge earlier than the current layout.

Motorists using the lane should take extra care as they approach the motorway, especially during peak times, said Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency National Manager Infrastructure Delivery, Andrew Thackwray.

The existing bus lane towards Constellation Dr will boast barriers in place to separate it from traffic.

Drivers are advised to follow messaging on the electronic signs.

They can use Albany's Oteha Valley Rd interchangeas an alternative to the busy Greville Rd on ramp.

The temporary layout will be in place until September to pave the way for work replacing Rosedale Bridge.

The SH1 southbound lanes will be closed between Greville Rd and Upper Harbour Highway overnight on March 14 from 9 pm to 5 am.

Detours will be in place.

The changes are part of a project to open up the Western Ring Route, extending the Northern Busway to Albany along with creating walking and cycling paths.

We watch captivated by the spectacle of those impressive America's Cup yachts foiling at 40 knots across the Hauraki Gulf, and at the same time, it's hard not to have a salutary reflection on the last 12 months.

Almost to the day, we were celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the New Zealand School of Food and Wine with special wine tastings, cooking classes, forage and gastronomic dinner for over 75 guests + our students. Many of our Christchurch team, including Lois, Philippe and Victoria had come up for the weekend. My mother-in-law, June Hay had also joined us from her retirement home in Christchurch. By Sunday 15 March, I was getting pretty nervous about Covid-19 and rather than have June stay in the North Island for a holiday, she returned home the next day. A few days later June's rest home went into lockdown and I counted the 14 days to see if we too had a NZSFW Covid Cluster. Fortunately not! See below some photos as we recalled the 10th Anniversary of the Christchurch Earthquakes.

Bunions affect 1 in 3 New Zealanders they can lead to pain and discomfort, which affects mobility, balance and quality of life. That’s not to mention the look of them and the difficulty of fitting shoes.

We’ve decided to run a special offer for people with bunions - β€œBunion Evaluation” for only $33 (worth $85). Offer valid 12/02/21 - 12/03/21

Many doctors and podiatrists believe that surgery is the only way to fix a bunion. This is not true. Bunion surgery is painful and doesn’t address the underlying cause of a bunion, which is generally the way we walk and stand. Ideally, surgery should be considered as the last treatment option for bunions.

At Corrective Foot Solutions, we use a gentle, hands-on technique to effectively treat and correct bunions – which means there’s no need for surgery or orthotics. We use Foot Mobilisation Therapy to correct the underlying cause of your bunion by working on the misalignments in the foot, as well as strengthening the weakened muscles around the joints.

Pop in and see us at 272 level 3b Parnell Rd, Parnell, Auckland or give us a call on 092129250.

Hi neighbours. A grove of pōhutukawa trees that were to be axed to make way for new classrooms have been saved from the chop following local outcry.

The Ministry of Education planned to fell the trees – five pōhutukawa and one Norfolk pine – at Campbells Bay School in Auckland early this year.

The plans prompted parents and local residents to launch a petition calling for the trees to be saved, and instead design a building which preserves them.

But this month, the Ministry of Education has shared new plans for the classroom block.

It will be set back an additional 4.5 metres from the school’s fence on Aberdeen Rd, meaning the six trees will remain, with some limited root reduction and canopy trimming.
