The Birth of Auckland 18 September 1840/2023 Events

Not many people know the story of Auckland's founding on 18 September 1840
When the Tuku Whenua was signed between Ngāti Whātua led by Apihai Te Kawau, and the Crown's Governor Hobson, that provided the original 3000 acres to establish Auckland.

Ngāti Whātua will livestream from a number of locations across the central city, this coming Monday morning,18 September.

On that morning karanga, karakia,whaikōrero and mōteatea will resound from these significant sites:
