Poll: Driving drowsy causes 20% of accidents - have you fallen asleep at the wheel before?

Darren from Parnell

A recent Australian study found that 20% of car accidents were caused by drowsy drivers and 1 in 6 drivers admit to falling asleep at the wheel (www.drive.com.au...). How do you solve this? How do you solve this? It's a mixture of medical issues (e.g. sleep apnoea), physical issues (e.g. tired muscles), mental issues (e.g. stress), and lifestyle choices (e.g. staying up too late). A solution is to do some online training, e.g. www.drivingtests.co.nz... to make a start in managing fatigue and your sleep, then see a sleep psychologist or sleep surgeon if a more detailed diagnosis is required. There are also resources published by WorkSafe, NZTA and SiteSafe as well as various unions and advocacy organisations that are specific to different industries and jobs. But what is your story? Have you fallen asleep while driving, even if just for a few seconds?

At Gardner Road Kindergarten, we want your child to have fun and get them ready to become a confident and competent learner during their school years.

Our “Transition to school programme” helps to make this journey as smooth as possible.

It provides a variety of experiences for your child, so they can learn to make sense of their world.

It is important that children embrace new challenges, learn to
co-operate with each other and set goals for themselves.

"All activities allow me to develop my curiosity, my imagination and through my enjoyment, my concentration. Talk to me about them and my language will grow too."

Come and see our programme in action.

Uncontrolled intensification

And the worse part is that the resulting houses are actually more expensive and less affordable!
The Auckland Unitary Plan has already in place a project to increase the number of houses according to the infrastructure capacity, environment protection, traffic limits, character and heritage status of every area, at a cost of 75 million of ratepayers money. Why on earth this government wants to scrap it, build to the maximum every available piece of land without consideration of the impact, not even providing for parking on site? Why this legislation was passed so quickly without involving key stakeholders like councils and removing our right for resource consent?
Please take a look at this petition and sign if you agree that we have legitimate reasons to reject this legislation.
Together, we have the power to stop it:

This is a rare opportunity for you to get your hands on a value-for-money quality IKEA kitchen, directly imported from Europe at heavily reduced cost and no shipping and import expense. The kitchen was ordered for a villa renovation where a new client came on board and had different requirements, nothing wrong with the IKEA kitchen - got one myself ;-)

The Cookery Diploma Level 5 students prepared a New Nordic Cuisine menu created by our own Chef Finn, originally from Denmark. Finn spent his formative years working in Michelin star rated restaurants including Noma.

The Level 5 Diploma of Cookery students prepared the menu also served it at the table, describing each dish to our guests - the Level 4 NZ Certificate in Cookery.

Here is the menu inspired by Chef Finn’s Nordic heritage.
• Tartare of Trevally - smoked and cured with crisp rye bread, pickled beetroot and siphon of brown butter hollandaise
• Mackerel fried on bread with compote of tomato and fennel & fennel butter sauce
• "Sylte" of pork belly with leek, 3 times onion & apple cider vinaigrette
• Tenderloin of Pigeon Bay lamb with Brussel Sprouts, kale, hazelnut & foaming buttermilk
• Apple with caramelized bread, dried blueberries, Blueberry sherbet & apple sorbet.
