Family Rebuild help After a Devastating Fire
On Wednesday, 30th October 2025, tragedy struck when a fire tore through Sanjay’s family home, destroying nearly everything they owned. Sanjay, his wife Neha, and their 7-year-old child Jay were lucky to escape unharmed — but the fire left them with nothing but the clothes on their backs. It’s been an incredibly tough time as they face the reality of starting over from scratch. The family doesn't have contents insurance to claim their loss. The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.
